Bardino Tinto 2017 is the personal project of Quinta da Pedra Alta winemaker João Pires and his partner Maria Soares. It is made from Old Vines Field Blend (mainly Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Franca). The grapes used are from friends (and also other producers/growers) that they have known for over 10 years and are old vines located between 500 - 650 meters above sea level.

Only 2600 bottles produced

Our main concern regarding Bardino was to make a wine that would represent us. We wanted to revive the habit of drinking wine for the sole purpose of enjoying the wine. As simple as that. Bardino is elegant and open minded and that is the reason why we replaced the info that usually comes in the back label (varieties, aging, main aromas, etc) for a poem! Bardino in Portuguese means bohemian and where we live we use bardino to describe someone that in spite of the bohemian character, has a gentle soul, is transparent and driven by goodness. João is the incarnation of bardino! So, it made sense to give this name to the wine. #bebardino #bestenemieswine"

Fresh, supple and elegant with lovely pure, juicy cherry and plum fruit. As well as good ripeness, this has nice structure and freshness and is made in an elegant style. Developing beautifully: very fine. 94/100  - Jamie Goode, Wine Anorak 26/09/2022
