Mentions (previous vintage)
17.5+ "Inky crimson with black core and narrow crimson rim. More complex aromas here than in the Melhor, with a slight herbal (but fully ripe) lift to complement the dark, intense fruit. The high percentage of Touriga shows in the perfume, which is all tied up with the cedary refined oak notes. On the palate, the oak seems more obvious, in really dark charry flavours not in oak's sweet spice. Although the alcohol is a little higher than in both the Melhor and the Rio, the whole seems more fluid, the tannins finer, the freshness more in evidence even if it is not analytically very different. Definitely my favourite of these Pedra Alta 2018s – for its refined texture in particular – even if the alcohol is a little warming on the finish." Drink 2024 – 2030 (JH) jancisrobinson.com
